Horizontal spiral decanter centrifuge is a kind of spiral unloading settling centrifuge.Mainly composed of screw conveyor with hollow shaft whose rotation direction is same as the drum and the speed is slightly lower than that of the drum,differential and other components.When the suspensions which will be separated get into the drum by hollow shaft,they are thrown into the drum cavity immediately under the centrifugal force effect generated by the high-speed rotation.High speed rotating drum produces a strong centrifugal force so that make the solid particles whose density are larger than liquid phase thrown stick on the inner wall of the drum and form a solid layer (because of the ring type,so known as solid ring layer); due to the low density and small centrifugal force,water can only be formed the liquid layer on the inner side of the solid ring layer,which is called the liquid ring layer.As the speed of spiral and the drum is different,so there exists relative motion(i.e. speed difference) between them,by the relative motion of spiral and drum slowly pushsludge on the solid layer to the cone end of the drum,and after through drying section, they are continuously discharged from the outlets distributed on the drum circumference;the liquid ring layer fluid continuously “overflow” out of the drum by gravity,form the liquid separation.
