1. Raw material preparation
Select high-quality turmeric rhizomes as raw materials, peel off the skin, and cut into thin slices or powder for later use.
2. Extraction process
Load the selected turmeric slices or turmeric powder into an extractor, add an appropriate amount of 70% ethanol (solvent to raw material ratio 1:10), seal the extractor, and proceed with extraction. The extraction time depends on the content of curcumin, usually 4-6 hours. During the extraction process, the temperature can be adjusted appropriately, generally controlled at around 45-50 ℃. After the extraction is completed, take out the extraction solution for later use.
3. Evaporation concentration
Pour the extract into a pot for evaporation and concentration, usually using a vacuum evaporator for operation. The temperature of evaporation and concentration is generally controlled at around 50 ℃ until the concentration reaches a certain specific gravity. After evaporation and concentration, a certain proportion of curcumin extract can be obtained.
4. Extract purification
Add an appropriate amount of water (solvent to extract ratio 1:1) to the obtained curcumin extract, and after repeated exchange, separate the products and impurities in the extract. Then filter the water layer, remove impurities, and concentrate to obtain high-purity curcumin.
